blow in insulation

Many older homes were insulated using batt insulation. While this worked in the beginning, the batt insulation slowly loses its R value. Applying blow in insulation on top of this insulation is a quick and cost effective way to "reinsulate" the home. Blow in insulation can also fill those pesky gaps and hard to reach places once it settles. Lastly, it is great for dampening sounds from the outside in or vice versa.

There are some disadvantages for using blow in insulation compared to our spray foam insulation options available. Obstructions in the wall space can cause the insulation to not cover the entire area and leaves voids. Examples would be wall studs, outlet boxes, and drain pipes. Blow in insulation will also settle over time. Typically a couple of inches which can reduce R value.
